An internal tool that turned dozens of copywriting orders into a few clicks

An internal web app over the iWriter API: brief templates with variables, order statuses for every site in one place, and approval without leaving the app.

The challenge

What the client needed

The client's team ran a network of content websites and ordered articles for them on iWriter, a copywriting marketplace. Every order meant filling the same long brief by hand: title, URL, category, length, writer level, keywords, style, purpose and instructions.

Most orders were near-identical: the same kind of article for another topic or another site. The marketplace UI had no templates, no grouping by website, and no overview of which texts were still being written and which were waiting for review.

They needed their own workspace on top of the marketplace: faster ordering, one place to track everything, and finished texts stored with the site they belong to.

The approach

How I solved it

01

Templates with variables

A template stores the whole brief and any variables the manager defines, like TOPIC or DOMAIN. On the order form the manager picks a template, types one or two values, and every field is filled in: title, URL, keywords and instructions included.

02

Projects and statuses through the API

Each website is a project with its own list of articles. Orders go to iWriter through its XML API, and one button checks every unfinished article in a project, so the list always shows who is waiting for a writer, who is writing and what needs review.

03

Review and approve in place

A finished article opens next to its brief. Approving it rates the writer on iWriter, downloads the text and stores it with the project, and a side-by-side editor prepares the formatted version for publishing.

04

Control over who writes

Each order can go to all writers, only top-rated ones, or a list of favourite writers. Categories sync from the marketplace, so the form always matches what iWriter accepts.

The product

One project per website, every article's status at a glance. Demo data.
A template is a full brief with variables instead of specifics.
Three values in the sidebar, and the whole brief is filled in.
The finished article next to its brief, approved in one click.

The outcome

What the client got

  • A series of similar orders takes a template and one or two values instead of a full brief each time.
  • All websites and their articles live in one place, with the current status of every order.
  • Finished texts are approved, downloaded and stored with their site without visiting the marketplace.
  • Managers choose the writer level or send work straight to proven writers.
  • Finished projects move to an archive, so the working list stays short.
